Basic Marble Cake

*For a non-baker, this is the most foolproof cake to try out... Never fails... (unless exceptional case)*

250g            butter/margarine
200g-250g   fine sugar
250g            self-raising flour (sieve)
4                  eggs (60g)
1/3tsp          vanilla essence
4tblsp           milk/soy bean milk/water
1 1/2tblsp     cocoa powder

#1 - Mix butter/margarine with sugar (sugar not yet dissolved completely)
#2 - Add egg 1 add a time and mixed well
#3 - Add vanilla essence and mixed well
#4 - Add 1/3 flour each time mixing it well before adding next 1/3
#5 - Add in desired liquid
#6 - Separate mixture into 2 portions: 1 original, 1 add with cocoa powder
#7 - Pour original mixture into 23cm baking pan then add in cocoa mixture
#8 - Give it a nice stir and bake at preheat 170c for about 45mins

NB 1: Reduce butter/margarine by 20g-30g if prefer less wet
NB 2: Unsalted butter/margarine can be used instead
NB 3: Reduce sugar by 20g-50g if prefer less sweet
NB 4: To give the cake a fluffier texture, add 1/4 tsp of baking soda
NB 5: Every oven is different so some minor adjustments required
